The Intention

Our mentoring program for teenage girls is to empower them in their individuality, educate them on important life topics and give the girls tangible takeaways that will help support them in everyday life.

Mentoring Details

How can this support my daughter/niece/friend?

Our mentoring program provides a safe space for girls to:

  • Explore yoga, healthy forms of movement, gentle breath work and meditation in a fun and easy way. Incorporating movement into everyday life in a healthy and sustainable way is essential for optimal physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. This can help deal with everyday teenage stressors, change, study, energy levels and so much more. This is something that can support your girls well into their adult life.

  • Be a part of an accepting community. This is a great opportunity to connect with other girls outside of their peer group at school. In previous terms it has been really beautiful to see girls connect with each other, who often wouldn't be in the same circle.

  • Know they are not alone. There is something very powerful in hearing other girls experience the same or similar problems such as friendship issues, self doubt, body image, self love, stress, overwhelm and negative thoughts, to name a few. It is very easy to look at someone from the outside and think they "have it all together". Being able to be vulnerable together and talk about worries allows us to be more self accepting and embrace our perfect imperfections.

  • Leave each session with tools they can use at home, school or in future scenarios.

  • Help them adopt a more positive mindset.

  • Learn how to change their physiology through yoga poses and breath work. Sometimes the easiest way to change a stressed mind is by changing the body first. If we can relax our muscles and nervous system we will be in a much better state mentally and emotionally too.

  • Learn more about themselves and the topics we cover in a fun and safe environment with no judgement or criticism.

I have 100 more dot points to write but I'm trying to keep it to the point and succinct. I am more than happy to discuss this in more detail with you if you have any particular questions! Please email me at anna@theswaneffect.com.au

What does each session entail?

Every session is broken up into 3 parts. The first part is movement. This may be yoga, a fun workout/game or something else that the girls request. The intention is to normalise making exercise fun, achievable and a part of everyday life.

The second part is where we cover a topic and sit around and have an open, relaxed and structured conversation. For example the topic may be ‘Stress’. We will then break down what stress is. The girls can share what makes them feel stressed. The sharing part is really powerful as the girls realise their peers, who they may not know well, often have the same worries/insecurities/problems as them.

Then we will brainstorm things we can do when we feel stressed. We will wrap this up by going around the circle and each girl will say what they are going to do this week if they feel stressed. For example, go for a walk, swim, talk to someone, take a bath, bake etc. etc. It’s really important that they leave each session with tangible takeaways that will help support them in everyday life.

The third part is an activity that will align with our topic. This could be a guided meditation after talking about stress. We might make a face scrub if we talked about self care. We might write a letter to ourselves if we talked about self love.

Every session gives the girls a chance to move, get a healthy dose of endorphins, explore important topics and leave with a new tool in their toolbox for life.

How long is the program?

Term 4, 2023 will be 8 weeks long.

We begin on Thursday, October 19th. Each session will be 3.30-4.30pm. Our final session for the term is December 7th.

Do the girls need to be sporty/into health and fitness?

Absolutely not! I am very passionate that this is a space for girls of all health and fitness levels and interests. All movement in very inclusive and optional so there is never pressure for the girls to feel too deep out of their comfort zone. Everything is designed in a way to empower the girls, with many options provided, so they never feel left out or like they aren't good enough.

Where is it held?

At The Swan Effect Yoga Studio. We are located at 1018 Norseman Road, Esperance WA 6450, within The Cannery Arts Centre. The studio is in the music room with the red door.

What are the payment options?

I highly recommend making the most of our early bird price! Payments can be made in one singular payment or in a fortnightly payment plan.

Term 4 | 2023

$160 before October 11th.

$180 after October 11th.

We commence on October 18th!

Can I do a one off session?

The term is designed for the same group of girls to do the 8 weeks together. This helps build friendships, familiarity and contributes to it feeling like a safe and grounded environment.

It also allows us to build upon discussions from previous weeks and maintain a flow throughout the activities and topics.

I have had many Mothers/Guardians nervous that their daughter won't feel comfortable in a new group and have found they overcome their nervousness and blossom throughout the term!

If you want a 1:1 session/s for your daughter then please email me at anna@theswaneffect.com.au. I have done 1:1 sessions for multiple girls before and these have had really positive results.
